As we begin gradually reopening Spectrum in response to COVID-19, community gatherings will not be permitted until phase two and three. Virtual lifestyle programs will continue to be offered.
While we can’t gather at this time, we can continue to live the Spectrum lifestyle! There are several fun activities included below that can keep you and your family active during this time of social distancing. Be sure to stay tuned on our social media pages and weekly Lifestyle E-News for more fun activities to come!
VIRTUAL 5K FOOD DRIVE
Saturday, 5/9 - Sunday, 5/31
The second Saturday in May (May 9th) was scheduled for the Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive (the largest one-day food drive in the nation), as well as our annual Spectrum 5K Color Fun Run! Due to the current COVID-19 situation, both events have been canceled or postponed, however that doesn’t mean that we can’t still make a difference. Spectrum has partnered with the St. Mary’s Food Bank to host a virtual food drive and 5K beginning May 9th and going through the end of the month. CCMC communities across the valley will also be participating – we hope to bring our communities together to support our local food bank, during a time that they desperately need it.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
STEP #1 - DONATE
Residents who are interested in participating in the Virtual 5K may enter the race by donating $5 minimum to the St. Mary’s Food Bank via the CCMC link ($5 = 35 Meals). If residents would like to make a larger donation, or make a donation without participating in the 5K, they can also do so through the same link.
STEP #2 – COMPLETE A 5K (3.107 MILES)
Participants can use any route they’d like, and are encouraged to practice safe social distancing when utilizing trails and common areas in the community.
5K participants should use Map My Run (Free App) to map their 3.107 mile run/walk/bike. Download it here.
- Map My Run provides a number of routes mapped by past users based on your current location.
- You can also create your own route by using the Spectrum Trail Map on our website.
STEP #3 – SUBMIT YOUR STATS BY MAY 31 AT 5PM
Once the 5K is completed, participants should submit a screenshot of their logged 3.107 miles via DropBox. The participants with the top three times will receive prizes, and all entries will be entered to win raffle prizes.
Our 2020 graduates aren't going to receive the celebrations that they deserve this year, so we are highlighting those who are graduating from Kindergarten, 6th Grade, Middle School, and High School.
